Lezmy Lab
The Lezmy Lab studies how electrical signals propagate along axons in the brain.
We investigate how these signals are generated and regulated to shape neural networks in health and disease.
A neuron is patched-clamped and filled with a red dye (pipette delineated with dashed lines), revealing the soma, apical and basal dendrites (on some of which spines can be seen), and the axon. Electrical signals (or spikes/action potentials) are generated at the axon initial segment and propagate down the axon, targeting other neurons locally or in another brain area.
